About

This sub-site offers a "virtual tour" of Imagining Connecticut, a permanent exhibition of 25 historical photographs and images, which best capture the main themes and defining characteristics of our state.

Produced by the Connecticut Humanities Council, Imaging Connecticut is on display daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the underground walkway connecting the Capitol and the Legislative Office Building. An eight- minute orientation video to the exhibit may be viewed at History On Demand, an interactive video station also created by the Connecticut Humanities Council, which offers interpretive programs on major themes and personalities in the state's past. The station is located within the An Orderly and Decent Government exhibit just off the atrium of the Legislative Office Building.

While at the Capitol, visitors interested in a more comprehensive presentation of Connecticut's rich past certainly should devote a moment or two to An Orderly and Decent Government. The Connecticut Humanities Council developed this permanent exhibition on the history of representative government in Connecticut in April 2000.

An Orderly and Decent Government is on display in the Legislative Office Building, Capitol Avenue, Hartford, weekdays between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Public parking is available in the adjacent Legislative Office Building garage.
