$2,500 to Connecticut Aududon Society Glastonbury for Notable Discoveries

The Connecticut Audubon Society of Glastonbury received $2,500 in CDHF funds to conduct a series of public lectures titled "Notable Discoveries," which explores unique and important aspects of the Connecticut River ecosystem.

$2,850 to Historical Society of Glastonbury for Glastonbury's Main Street ( A Self-Guided Tour)

The Historical Society of Glastonbury (HSG) was awarded $2,850 in CHDF support to produce a self-guided walking tour booklet that introduces residents and visitors to the town's four National Historic Register districts.

Hamden

$24,517 to Connecticut League of History Organizations for Serving Connecticut's History Organizations: Preserving and Interpreting Collections

The Connecticut League of History Organizations (CLHO) received $24,517 in CHDF funding to develop and host professional development materials for the professional and volunteer staff of its member museum and history organizations. With this support, CLHO will present a four-part seminar on collections care, four related articles in its newsletter and two half-day workshops on best practices in museum management.

Hartford

$20,000 to Old State House Association, Inc. for Audience Research for Old State House Long-Term Exhibition

Since it assumed responsibility for downtown Hartford's historic Old State House, the Connecticut Historical Society has been hard at work to re imagine the site as a cornerstone of Hartford's revitalization. Toward that end, the CHS received $20,000 in CHDF support to conduct audience research that will inform the themes of a new, 6,800 square foot interactive exhibition in the site's underground gallery.

$3,425 to Litchfield Historical Society for Walking Tour Brochure of Litchfield's Historic Center

The Litchfield Historical Society received $3,425 in CHDF support to produce a walking tour brochure on the history of Litchfield and its architecture that will be available free of charge to visitors and residents.

Lyme

$655 to Association for the Study of Connecticut History for The African American Experience in Connecticut

The Association for the Study of Connecticut History (ASCH) received $655 in CHDF Professional Development support to transport and install an exhibition titled "Speaking for Ourselves: African American Life in Farmington, CT" at Manchester Community College as part of its annual conference. The conference, also supported by the CHC, featured 22 speakers who explored topics relating to the African American experience in Connecticut from the 17th to the 20th centuries.

Mystic

$49,602 to Mystic Seaport Museum for Black Hands, Blue Seas: The Maritime Heritage of African Americans

The Mystic Seaport Museum received $49,602 in CHDF support to create an exhibition on the contributions of black Americans to our country's maritime heritage. Materials for the exhibition, including paintings, photographs, documents, tools, weapons and memorabilia, will be drawn from the collections of several major museums and private collections. The CHC also provided $5,000 in planning support for the project.

New Britain

$5,000 to Central Connecticut State University for The Central Connecticut State University Legislative Case Study Program

The Policy and Social Research Center at Central Connecticut State University received $5,000 in CHDF funds to develop and host a series of discussion forums for state legislators and the general public on key issues before the Connecticut State Legislature over the past 50 years.

$19,387 to Lyman Allyn Art Museum for Commerce and Culture: Architecture and Society on New London's State Street

The Lyman Allyn Art Museum was awarded $19,387 to develop an exhibition and related materials on the history of New London through commercial development, with focus on the relationship between the architecture of its main commercial street and larger trends in American architecture and urbanism.

$5,000 to New London Main Street Corporation for New London Through time and Place

New London Main Street (NLMS), one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's many Main Street programs in Connecticut, was awarded $5,000 in CHDF funding to pilot a multi-site living history play that physically and thematically links the Hempstead Houses, Shaw Perkins Mansion and the Custom House Maritime Museum. The play was produced in collaboration with Flock Theater, a local theater company in the city.

West Hartford

$5,000 to Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford for Back to the Land: Eastern Connecticut Poultry Farms

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Hartford (JHSGH), in collaboration with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), was awarded $5,000 in CHDF planning support for research on the history of poultry farming in Eastern Connecticut, which will be used to develop future projects such as exhibits and web resources. The project will coincide with the Connecticut Humanities Council's statewide tour of Barn Again: Celebrating and American Icon.
