Experience
With
a $11,707 Cultural Heritage Development Fund grant, The Noah Webster
House will plan a series of programs and projects to better explore
and commemorate the African American experience in West Hartford,
which includes an investigation into the life of Bristow, an enslaved
African that bought his freedom from the Thomas Hooker family. The
project is timed to coincide with the opening of West Hartford's
new middle school named after this West Hartford historical figure.

to Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum for Rochambeau & Revolutionary
Connecticut: 225 Years of Franco-American Relations
The
Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum in Wethersfield will use $12,396 in CHDF
support to engage consultants to help plan the first scholarly conference
on Franco American relations in the recent past, and to develop
interpretative strategies for their National Historic Landmark properties.
Both the symposium and the new interpretation will be part of the
statewide commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the French march
across Connecticut in 1781 and the American victory at Yorktown.

month project to restore and refurbish the historic home.
