Phineas Lyman (1715-1774)

Clark, Delphina H. Phineas Lyman, Connecticut's General. Springfield, Mass.: Connecticut Valley Historical Museum, 1964. Robert Taylor, in the New England Quarterly 38(1965):427, calls this "the barest elaboration and pulling together of fragmentary notes. There is no depth, no significant interpretation .... Consultation of important sources is inadequate."

Hamilton, Milton W. "Hero of Lake George: Johnson or Lyman?" New England Quarterly 36(September, 1963)3:371-82. Hamilton gives the palm to Johnson. Lyman "was less significant in the action than his eulogists have asserted." (p. 382)
