Samuel Huntington (1731-1796)

Gerlach, Larry R. Connecticut Congressman: Samuel Huntington 1731-1796. Bicentennial pamphlet XX (1977). Longest of the Bicentennial pamphlets, 142 pages, this constitutes a more ambitious undertaking than any of the other biographical contributions to the series. Gerlach, who wrote an excellent master's thesis on Connecticut during the Revolutionary era, has explored Huntington's life fully, emphasizing his political career. It is likely that this work will remain definitive for a long time.

Huntington, Susan D. "Samuel Huntington." Connecticut Magazine 6(1900)4:247-54. A brief introduction, photographs of Huntington's house and tomb, the text of several letters he wrote between 1778 and 1787.

Van Dusen, Albert E. "Samuel Hundngton: A Leader of Revolutionary Connecticut" CHS Bulletin 19(January, 1954)1.

Waugh, Albert Edmund. Samuel Huntington and his Family. Stonington, Conn.: Pequot Press, 1968. A slight work, but certainly not useless if Gerlach is not available.
