Destler, Chester. Joshua Coit: American Federalist, 1758-1798. Middletown: Wesleyan University Press, 1962. Destler knows the Connecticut scene well. This book is probably the best entree into Connecticut politics of the Federal Era in print. An excellent, interesting, scholarly work.
