Thomas Clap (1703-1767)

Dexter, Franklin B. "President Clap and His Writings." Papers of the NHCHS V(1894):247-74. Very dry, but so were Clap's writings. Includes a bibliography of publications.

Tucker, Louis Leonard. Puritan Protagonist, President Thomas Clap of Yale College. Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 1962. Based on a University of Washington dissertation (1957), this is a scholarly study not only of Clap but of Yale and Connecticut society in the late colonial period. Clap, president of Yale from 1740 to 1766, was at the center of all the intellectual crosscurrents of eighteenth-century New England. This book is excellent intellectual history.
