basic documents, so ably edited, for understanding and appraising
New England's most disturbing hero." (Charles H. Foster,
New England Quarterly 331960:423.) Nevertheless, Foster
identifies a couple of significant omissions.

but there is a good bibliography and bibliographical essay. Modest
index.
