Orderly and Decent Government
This
website offers a "virtual tour" of An Orderly and Decent
Government, a permanent exhibition on the history
of representative government in Connecticut developed by the
Connecticut Humanities Council in April, 2000.
An
Orderly and Decent Government is on display in the Capitol
concourse of the Legislative Office Building, Capitol Avenue,
Hartford, Connecticut weekdays between the hours of 9:00 a.m.
and 5:00 p.m. Public parking is available in the adjacent
Legislative Office Building garage.

Also
of potential interest to Capitol visitors is Imagining Connecticut,
a series of 25 historical photographs and images capturing
main themes and defining characteristics of the state produced
by the Connecticut Humanities Council. Imagining Connecticut
is on display daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the walkway
connecting the Capitol and the Legislative Office Building.
History
On Demand, an interactive video station created by the Connecticut
Humanities Council, offers interpretive programs of major
themes and personalities in the state's past. The station
is located within the An Orderly and Decent Government exhibit.
The
State Capitol itself is filled with historical and architectural
treasures well worth seeing. The League of Women Voters offers
tours for both school groups and adults focusing on the history
of the building and the legislative process. Free one-hour
guided tours leave from the League of Women Voters Information
Desk, first floor, west entrance of the Legislative Office
Building daily at 9:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 12:15
p.m. and 1:15 p.m. Advance reservations are necessary for
groups. School groups must be 4th grade or above. Third grade
tours are offered but only when the legislature is not in
